How do we know our students’ abilities in reading? This module will focus on different tools you can use to assess reading level.

Learn key strategies for using running records, San Diego Quick, DRA/ Fountas and Pinnell, and writing traits rubric.
Competencies
Knowledge: Teachers understand that the only way to know a student’s reading ability is through using multiple reading assessments.
Skills: Teachers will be able to comfortable use a variety of diagnostic assessments to understand more about their students as individual readers and writers.
Mindset: Daily course work provides us information about how are students are mastering individual skills, but diagnostic and continued assessment for reading and writing is the only way for us to see the whole picture. This is necessary to plan for instruction for our students.
